The Top 5 Nude Beaches In The World

The Top 5 Nude Beaches In The World
By Liz Boudreau

The very thought of heading for a nude beach gives many people the shakes. For others, it’s a natural occurrence and a natural consideration. If you’re comfortable in your own skin, they argue, why not head out in just that skin?
There are a variety of things to consider when choosing a nude beach. Many experts say location is one factor as you probably want some measure of privacy (and most nude beaches offer this). Other factors to consider are the age range of people who visit the beach (you’ll likely want to be with a group
around your own age) and other factors that really have to do more with your own comfort level.
If you are considering heading to a nude beach, why not head for the best? Here’s a list of the top 5 nude beaches, as chosen by the Travel Channel.
1.Montalivet, France.
This area is called the international birthplace of the naturalist movement. At this beach resort,
you can camp (most popular) or stay in one of the 172 bungalows. This is a family resort, so if it’s in your comfort level to include the kids, you won’t be the only ones. This resort features a wide variety of classes that range from soccer to yoga and everything includes the whole family. This gives new meaning to the term au natural!
2.Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Famous for its many beach resorts, this area of Jamaica also includes the Couples Resort, which is an excellent start for the new nudists. The resort itself it not a nudist resort, but there’s a beach just offshore that’s for nudists. Featuring a pristine beach, private cozy nooks all around and a cabana bar, this island is private and safe, making newbies feel comfortable in their newly exposed skin.
3.Wreck Island, British Columbia.
This four-mile stretch of beach is so named because a huge wrecked sea vessel once inhabited the sand. At this friendly beach, you can enjoy the nesting area of the bald eagles, and know civilization is just a few steps away (the University of British Columbia is just a few hundred steps above the beach). One of the most lively parts of this beach is Vendor’s Row, where you can shop (in the nude) for souvenirs, handmade items and other goodies (including sunscreen, which you’ll need in abundance).
4.Samurai Beach, Australia.
Located in Port Stephens, this beach backs up to the clothing-optional Bardot’s resort. At the beach, you can enjoy nude volleyball, Frisbee, and tug of war. This is the spot of the famous Nude Olympics, which are held each year. Events include Nude Surfing, Nude Beach Girl and Guy Competition and Nude Torch Relay.
5.Hedonism II, Jamaica.
Yes, laid-back Jamaica can claim two of the top five nude beaches. At this clothing optional resort, expect a good party. There’s nude swimming, sunbathing and volleyball, as well as what the resort calls a “lush garden of playful passion”. Designed for playful couples and singles, the resort features a big party scene, lots of lush and delicious food and a nude good time all around.

Naked in South Africa

Worth a look. Where to go nudist in South Africa

Some useful information should you find yourself going nudist in South Africa

This article is over 12 months old but still worth a look. Rebekah Kendal comes up with some ideas about where to get naked in South Africa. The article itself is a little giggly, and she doesn’t even mention the magnificent Sandy Bay beach at Llandudno, Cape Town, but there are enough useful links ( one of which I couldn’t get to work!) to get you started if you happen to find yourself in that part of the world.

New nude hiking trail in Germany

Germany’s first official hiking trail for nudists has proved a hit, sparking calls for other nude-friendly trails in Europe, reports a Swiss newspaper.
The 11-mile naked hiking trail opened last year in central Germany following a series of altercations between nudists and clothes-wearing hikers on regular trails.

Good news for we nudists.I’m not one for nude hiking myself; my nude leisure is more on the lines of lying down in the sun and slurping a Margarita, but it’s an enlightened move by the German authorities. Maybe the UK government will take the hint…?

Another reason to get naked - sunbathing may do wonders for your sex life!

More good news for us nudists. A little sunshine may do wonders for your sex life.
A spot of sunbathing may be just the thing to lift a man's libido, say experts after an Austrian study finds testosterone is boosted by vitamin D.
The bulk of this essential nutrient is made by the skin on exposure to sunlight. The rest comes from the diet.
A study in Clinical Endocrinology journal of 2,299 men found those with enough of the vitamin had more of the male sex hormone than those with less.
So come on guys! Get 'em off!

Turkey opens first official nudist hotel

Update to "The Complete Guide..."

Further to "Chapter 7 Naturism and the Law - where nudity's a no-no", the situation regarding Turkey seems to be changing.

The Adaburnu-Gelmar Hotel, located in Datça near the well-known resort of Marmaris, is to be the first nudist hotel in Turkey, whose population is Muslim by an overwhelming majority and which – despite steadfastly maintaining a secular society, holds up rather traditional and conservative values.
Although its main target will be attracting foreign tourists, Turks who make a reservation through a foreign tour operator, as they can be classified as tourists, will also be allowed to stay at the hotel.
The hotel will allow nudity on the hotel grounds from 8am to 8pm, according to international media reports.
“Whilst guests are expected to cover up indoors, there is a pool bar serving drinks and an outdoor dining terrace by the pool where guests may eat au-naturel,” an advertisement for the hotel on the Peng Travel website reads. “The hotel has its own serviced naturist beach a 20 minute drive away and provides a free shuttle service.”

See the Peng Travel Website for details.

Another Good Reason to Become a Nudist: you won't get eaten by a shark!

Another Good Reason to Become a Nudist: you won't get eaten by a shark!
According to recent research, an all-over-tan can dramatically reduce your chances of being swallowed up by a shark.
Apparently the flashes of white skin which characterise the bodies of people who rarely expose their bodies to the sun and air help to attract a shark, and alert it to the possibility of dinner being served.
An all-over tan is much less noticeable to a fishy predator, so you're significantly less likely to end up as the main course.
So before you go swimming in shark infested waters -- top up your tan!

Another good reason to shed our clothes!

Research published in this months's British Medical Journal indicates that people who have high levels of vitamin D, the main source of which is sunlight, through skin exposure, are less likely to develop bowel cancer than those with low levels.

Dr Panagiota Mitrou, science programme manager for the World Cancer Research Fund, said: "This is the biggest ever study on this subject and there is now quite a lot of evidence from studying populations that people who have low levels of vitamin D are more likely to develop bowel cancer.

The Complete Guide to Nudism & Naturism already lists an impressive array of diseases which are known to benefit from exposure to sunlight, but bowel cancer was not amongst them. It appears that we now have yet another reason to shed our clothes!
